Registry Patrol
I am not quite sure what to make of
registry patrol. The website claims that the software deep scans your registry and all but eliminates computer crashes and increases speed and performance. All of that is well and good and exactly what I personally would expect from a registry cleaning software.
They claims that
registry patrol will
safely optimize and clean your windows based registry and increase your system stability using the world's "most advanced error detection algorithm". It is available as a free download both to home users and commercial applications as well.
On the surface
registry patrol sounds like
an ideal solution to the problem people have of getting corrupted and polluted registries that need to be tweaked and scrubbed to remove the clutter. However, there are also reports online that say that the software is actually a form of Spyware and once installed is a hard Trojan to get rid of.
I did a little more digging on it and went to the C-Net forum and researched a bit more. It seems that the vast majority of people that got registry patrol said on there that they had less than
stellar experiences with the program and it did everything from completely crash programs to giving errors and needing to be reinstalled. It seems customer service is not available, no one ever returns calls or emails and there is just a lot of problems with the product and the dates on the posts start back in 2005 and the last one was only 7 days ago,
That tells me it might not just be one or two isolated incidents that we are discussing.
I also realize that everyone has opinions and a good portion of people might be using it wrongly, loading it improperly etc. so I can give registry patrol the benefit of the doubt and will look over the actual pluses of the features it offers. I will not however
load it on my computer at this time.
The concept of registry patrol is that of any other
registry cleaner and the company seems to be making a lot of very bold claims that, if they were indeed real, would make for a phenomenal product.
On the surface and in the advertising I found, registry patrol sounds like an ideal version of a
registry cleaning program that should be ideal if it can do what it claims and can do it as well as they say it can do it. I would advise that if you are considering using registry patrol that you look into the reviews and the comments before downloading and installing it because the last thing that you want to do is give yourself a worse problem than the one you were trying to fix in first place.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
